No discussions underway on additional payment to Lindsayca – President Ali
The government is not currently making an additional payment to Lindsayca, one of the contractors involved in constructing the 300 MWv Gas-to-Energy Project in Wales, Region Three, President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali has said.
During his press conference at the Office of the President on Monday, President Ali confirmed that a request for additional resources had been made.
However, he stressed that the government had not discussed it at the time of the press conference.
“I know that there has been a request for additional resources,” the president stated in response to questions from the media about whether additional funds were being considered for the contract. He added, “That has not been discussed.”
The head of state told reporters that the project team continues to pay careful attention to matters involving Lindsayca’s execution of the project.
President Ali also referenced commitments regarding first power by the end of December and other project milestones.
The Gas-to-Energy Project remains one of Guyana’s major energy investments and is intended to expand domestic electricity-generation capacity.
The Office of the Prime Minister has confirmed that the GTE project is expected to come online by the end of 2026. It will initially deliver around 57 megawatts (MW) to 228 MW of power before reaching its full 300 MW capacity in 2027.
