Min McCoy urges Guyanese to reject deception, uphold righteousness

Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister with Responsibility for Public Affairs and Information, Kwame McCoy, has urged Guyanese to reject deception and divisive conduct, while embracing the spiritual lessons of Navratri to promote positive values and national progress.

Minister McCoy made the call on Monday evening as he joined devotees at the Sanskaar Bhaarati International Ashram Guyana in Diamond, East Bank Demerara, for the final night of Navratri.

He said the nine nights of observance provide an opportunity for spiritual renewal and reflection, encouraging individuals to apply the teachings of their faith to their families, communities and wider society.

“Just as our Navratri encourages us to confront the negatives and the evils of society, I want us to be able to confront deception, mischief and attempts to divide us as a society,” the minister said.

He stressed that citizens have a shared responsibility to challenge actions that promote falsehood, revenge and division, particularly where they threaten social cohesion and undermine national development.

Such efforts, he said, are essential to protecting the interests of children and future generations.

The minister encouraged devotees to carry the lessons of Navratri beyond the place of worship, using them to guide their conduct and decisions while ensuring that righteousness prevails over wrongdoing.

Congratulating devotees on completing the nine nights of observance, he commended their commitment to spiritual renewal, faith and hope, and extended his Navratri greetings, urging them to continue applying the festival’s teachings in their daily lives for the benefit of the nation.
